David Carr Editorial: A New Journey Begins

Anybody can land and stop. It takes real talent to stop and land. Or so I was told in a Quebec City hotel during a Helicopters Association of Canada reception. Thus began my initiation as editor of HELICOPTERS. For the record, I have had the pleasure of covering aviation on and off for the better part of 15 years, mostly for a string of British-based trade publications. Occasionally for our sister publication, WINGS. For a magazine junkie who has always been interested in the business of aviation, it would appear I have landed the perfect job. It is certainly going to be a challenging position, as Helicopters holds its position as Canada’s rotary-wing authority by strengthening its editorial line-up.

We’re still going to publish a full year of themed issues complete with the popular directories that have been a ‘gotta have’ in the Canadian helicopter community for more than 20 years. We are also adding diversity to our coverage with more articles on key industry segments in every issue, not just once or twice a year. As always, these reports will be delivered by some of the most talented and best-connected writers in Canadian aviation.

You will have already experienced a taste of what’s to come with the inclusion of the first annual HELICOPTERS Magazine Supplier’s Profile handbook in this issue. Here is a quick reference guide to some of the biggest names in the rotary-wing industry. More innovations are on the horizon, including the first Helicopter Business Issue and Annual Operator Survey scheduled for the July/August/September issue.
