Van Horn Aviation Signs MOU with Bell Helicopter

February 25, 2013  By Carey Fredericks

March 5, 2013, Tempe, Az. -  Rotor blade manufacturer Van Horn Aviation (VHA) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. concerning 412/212 rotor blades.

Under the MOU, VHA will design, certify and manufacture composite tail rotor blades to supply the Bell 412/212 product lines. The VHA 412/212 tail rotor blades will also be available for purchase by current operators through Aeronautical Accessories, a Bell Helicopter brand.

“Our 412/212 tail rotor blades will share many of the same qualities of our proven 206 tail rotor blades, including a robust compositedesign and efficient airfoil,” said VHA president James Van Horn. “We have already completed the design and manufacture of the prototype blade and will be flight testing this summer.”

The 412/212 MOU follows another recent agreement between the two companies signed late last year that assigns exclusive distribution rights for VHA’s 206B/L composite tail rotor blades through Aeronautical Accessories. “The exclusivity agreement allows customers quick and easy access to our tail rotor blades from Aeronautical Accessories and Bell’s expanding network of customer service centers,” said VHA general manager Dean Rosenlof. “Now operators and their maintenance staff can have more confidence when installing VHA blades since the blades are coming from Bell.”
