March 17, 2014  By Carey Fredericks

March 17, 2014, Boise, Id. - Aviation Specialties Unlimited Inc. (ASU) added a new Transport Canada and revised FAA STC to its growing list of STCs after successfully completing an NVIS Lighting System installation on a Sikorsky S76 B in Canada.

“This is the fifth joint STC with the FAA and Transport Canada that we have obtained for NVG use on Canadian registered aircraft,” said ASU Director of Programs Kip McDermott. “Our company has successfully partnered with both agencies to assure every detail is documented, every safety measurement is taken and every requirement is met. Our goal with every project is to ensure our customers have the best equipment, aircraft modification and training available.”

ASU also conducts initial training for pilots regarding the use of night vision goggles in conjunction with their modified aircraft.

“We offer full service capabilities to our clients around the world,” said ASU President James Winkel. “ASU has long been known for night vision goggle sales, but ASU is more than that. We work carefully with customers to understand the scope of their operational mission requirements, equipment needs and training needs. Whether an operation is using NVGs for the first time, or in need of training or equipment modification and repairs, ASU has all the in house capabilities necessary to serve our customers. We strive to make sure customers have everything they need to operate safely no matter where the mission may take them.”
