November 24, 2015  By Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada

The aerospace and space industries are innovation leaders in Canada that are committed to collaborative research and development excellence. That is why Canada's new Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the Honourable Navdeep Bains, met with key players from Canada's aerospace and space industries at the annual Canadian Aerospace Summit today. The summit is hosted by the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada.

Minister Bains, in his first address in this role, shared his thoughts on maintaining the strong relationship between the federal government and Canada’s aerospace and space industries. He recognized the industries as global success stories and praised them for their innovation and productivity. He also outlined how the government’s new innovation agenda will help businesses grow, innovate and export so that they can create good quality jobs for Canadians. This mandate is reflected in the new name of the Department and will complement the successes and strengths that already characterize the aerospace and space industries in Canada.

The Minister expressed his commitment to working closely with these industries to ensure that they remain innovative, productive and successful in export markets, while being key players in Canada’s continued economic development.
