Ledcor to acquire Trinity Helicopters

November 1, 2012  By Carey Fredericks

Nov. 1, 2012, Vancouver - Ledcor Air Limited, a member of The Ledcor Group of Companies, announced today that it has entered into a Letter of Intent to acquire Trinity Helicopters Limited, based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

"We are hopeful that following a confirmatory due diligence period, a definitive purchase and sale agreement will be concluded. The effective date of the purchase would be November 30, 2012, subject to certain regulatory approvals," said Paul McElligott, President, Ledcor Air Limited. "The acquisition of Trinity Helicopters complements our existing portfolio of fixed wing aviation companies and will enable us to offer a wide range of passenger transport and cargo lifting solutions across the North, to better service our valued customer base and new customers alike."

Ledcor Air Limited is a subsidiary of Ledcor, which is headquartered in Vancouver, B.C.  Ledcor owns Summit Air and recently acquired Arctic Sunwest Charters, both also based in Yellowknife.  Combined, the airlines operate over 20 fixed wing aircraft from Beavers and Twin Otters to Dorniers, Dash 8s and Buffaloes.

"Bringing helicopter and fixed wing services into a unified operation will provide more efficient and flexible air transportation support for the governments and companies serving the North," said McElligott.  "We believe this acquisition is very timely given the significant level of activities underway in the region that are unlocking the vast economic potential 'North of Sixty' and in the high Arctic."
