June 25, 2009, Markham, Ont. - The CBAA Board of Directors met at the Toronto Buttonville Municipal Airport today for their spring meeting.
June 25, 2009, Markham, Ont. – The Canadian Business Aviation
Association (CBAA) Board of Directors met at the Toronto Buttonville
Municipal Airport today for their spring meeting. This world class
facility, which is also home to the Million Air Toronto FBO, is an
important Business Aviation Gateway in the Greater Toronto Area.
Buttonville Airport is one of the 10 busiest airports in Canada and
boasts approximately 170,000 departures and arrivals by numerous
aircraft per year and provides direct and indirect employment for
approximately 2000 people.
In addition to being a business aviation gateway, Buttonville
contributes approximately $100 million in economic activity to the
adjacent regional economies. Privately owned and operated, Buttonville
Airport is openly available to the public and provides valued service
to flight operations that are not able to use other airports in the GTA.
“The CBAA Board of Directors is very pleased to be at such an important
business aviation hub and economic enabler,” stated Sam Barone,
President and CEO of the CBAA, “that creates business opportunities
along with employment to the Greater Toronto Area.”
The Buttonville airport provides an accessible and less crowded
alternative to Pearson International Airport given its close proximity
to downtown Toronto and less congested air traffic patterns. Location
and access aside, Buttonville Airport provides its service on a 24/7
basis, with few restrictions and charges landing/user fees that are
lower than those levied at Pearson airport.
The CBAA is working hard in association with Million Air Toronto,
Toronto Airways Flight Training and the Toronto Buttonville Municipal
Airport to ensure that this aviation center continues its important
role for Canadian Business Aviation and the associated regional
economies.
