May 27, 2011  By Carey Fredericks

May 27, 2011, Richmond, B.C. - With the goal of supporting local children and youth in foster care, CHC Helicopter has donated $2,500 towards the SOS Children’s Village Run & Family Festival.

The third annual SOS Children’s Village Run kicks off at 8:30 a.m. at Richmond’s Olympic Oval Plaza on Sunday, May 29th. This year’s event will offer both officially timed and casual 5-10K runs and the popular 1-2K Family Walk, as well as an expanded family festival.

“As part of CHC’s ongoing efforts to make a difference in our local communities, we saw an opportunity to support a great event such as the SOS Children’s Village Run & Family Festival,” said Andrew Huige, Communications Manager for CHC Helicopter. “We are excited to help create meaningful change for these children.”

The SOS Children’s Village Run & Family Festival helps support SOS Children’s Village BC. This year marks the 25th anniversary of SOS Children’s Village BC, which works to enrich the lives of local children and youth in care. Everyday life can present enormous difficulties for children who often feel that they don’t belong, can’t learn and aren’t successful. SOS helps them navigate successfully through life with a host of activities and programs to support their development.

“Our province’s children are the future and there’s a community obligation to give them the love and support that every child needs to grow into a healthy adult,” said Lois Bouchard, Founder/Ambassador of SOS Children’s Village BC and coordinator for the SOS Children’s Village Run & Family Festival. “Every child matters; every child belongs.”
