Destructive wildfires ahead of 2014 pace

Alberta’s wildfire season is only three months in and has consumed significantly more forest than at this point last year.
The wildfire season, which began March 1, has been “very, very hectic,” with some firefighters working up to 24 days straight, said Wildfire Information Officer Richard Horne, 49.
“The forested areas of the province have been incredibly dry, so much so that our meteorologists are talking about this being almost unprecedented,” he said at the Lesser Slave Lake Fire Centre on Wednesday. | READ MORE
