Donaldson A&D names new GM

August 13, 2015  By Donaldson

Donaldson Aerospace & Defense has named veteran Donaldson executive Matt Fortuna as its new general manager for Global Aerospace & Defense.

Fortuna, who assumed the key role July 20, is responsible for developing and executing the company’s global 2021 vision and strategy plans while leading Donaldson’s growing aerospace and defense business activities. Fortuna reports to Tom Scalf, senior vice president, Engine Products.

Fortuna, who leads an experienced Donaldson team based primarily in Minneapolis, had served as director of defense in Donaldson Aerospace & Defense since April 2014, leading his team in building and executing a Defense Ground action plan for the company. His planning helped take advantage of strong sales and profitability in the past fiscal year as the market began its recovery.

In 2009, Fortuna was named Director for the company’s Disk Drive filtration products. He was instrumental in realigning product cost structure and manufacturing processes while introducing breakthrough processes for the company’s filtration systems that protect disk drives from harmful particles, gases and moisture that threaten their viability.

Prior to that, he served in several leadership roles, including director, semiconductor, in the Industrial Group in 2006, Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) Metals Engineering Manager in 2002 and a three-year assignment in Agustacalientes, Mexico, as Engineering Manager. He joined Donaldson in 1996 as a Project Engineer in AMT.
