Announced earlier this year in a press release at the Farnborough International Airshow, Eurocopter has completed the sale of its 500th Canadian registered Helicopter. But this sale is even more important because it is also the first sale of an AS355 NP in Canada. Paul Spring, President and CEO of Phoenix Heli-Flight took possession of his new helicopter, July 18th, at Eurocopters Fort Erie, Ontario, Facility. On hand for the ceremony were Paul and his wife Andrea Montgomery Spring, Eurocopter, V.P. of Marketing, Sales and Customer Support, Tony Brown, V.P. Operations, Gerard Bringue, and V.P. Finance, Thomas Weggenmann.

The helicopter was “made to order” for Paul and has an amazing hand crafted paint scheme. Painted by artist Dave Thomas of Flying Colors Mural & Design in Edmonton Alberta, the flaming eagle represents the mythical namesake of the company. Like the phoenix, this bird will be seen rising from the flames, on fire fighting duties, as well as VIP transport, Medevac, camera and film crew duties and just about anything else required of it. Despite the amazing paint scheme this will be a work machine that will bring the number of helicopters under the Pheonix name up to 2 twins and 5 singles.

Phoenix Heli-Flight started business in 1998 and is located in Fort McMurry, British Columbia. Paul and his wife Andrea who serves as Vice-President of the company have purchased 11 Eurocopter machines over the years and have been very happy with the product and the services provided by Eurocopter Canada.

The AS355 NP represents a real technology jump for the AS355 N design including, electric oil cooling, main gearbox design upgrades for easy of maintenance and two Arrius 1A1 engines which provides a 20 percent increase in payload.

The next big technology jump for Phoenix Heli-Flight will be the delivery of their next machine, an AS350B3 which will have a dual hydraulic system and according to Paul may become a standard feature in the future.

Eurocopter has been supporting Phoenix Heli-Flight with machines and service for many years now and it looks like there will be many more to come.
