May 25, 2009 – Farnborough International Ltd (FIL), organiser of the biennial Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) is upbeat about plans for the forthcoming show, which is to take place 19-25 July 2010.  The company plans, between now and July 2010, to re-evaluate aspects of the show with an emphasis on enhancing and increasing networking and meeting opportunities and improving site services, in line with feedback from exhibitors, particularly from the business aviation sector.

FIA 2008 recorded a phenomenal US$88.7bn of orders during the five trade days of the show, a figure which more than doubled 2006’s orders of US$42bn.  Record numbers of trade visitors, exhibitors and delegations flooded through the gates to the event, which in 2008 celebrated 60 years at its home in Farnborough, U.K.

Since 2008’s show, FIL has been working on developing its company infrastructure, a move which has encompassed the strengthening of its Board of Directors, as well as several key new additions to senior management and support staff.  The company’s overall focus, moving forward, is to develop the airshow and the site itself.

FIL Chief Executive Officer, Shaun Ormrod confirmed this saying: ‘We are very much looking forward to FIA 2010.  Obviously we appreciate that many of our clients could be feeling the effects of the current global recession and therefore we make it our aim for 2010’s show to work even harder, to provide participants with the very best opportunities to do business.  We have plans in place to deliver an enhanced conference and seminar programme, as well as a ‘Meet Your Buyer’ event to strengthen networking opportunities across the show.  With the recent arrival of Rod Dean as Director of Flight Operations, it is also our intention to build on the daily flying displays and broaden the scope for customer demonstration flights.  We will also be looking at the static aircraft display areas so that customer products can be shown off at optimum levels.  Additionally we are working hard to maintain the number and quality of our military and civil delegations and a comprehensive programme will be implemented for the benefit of all our exhibitors.’’
