May 1, 2008 – The
HAI Operator Safety Award annually recognizes the safe operation of
helicopters by its regular members. HAI provides this award to those
regular members whose safety statistics for the previous calendar year
demonstrate a helicopter accident rate that is less than half the total
of the average accident rate of HAI operator members and the accident
rate for all U.S. civil helicopters.

The qualifying rate (usually about 3.0 accidents per 100, 000 flying hours) will be determined after the May 15, 2008 application
closing date. Information provided by the applicants will be used to
determine eligibility. The award consists of an engraved plaque with a
year-date medallion signifying the year(s) of qualification. HAI
provides one commemorative plaque and year-date medallions at no cost
to qualified regular members. Additional plaques may be purchased.

If you need additional information about the HAI Operator Safety
Award, please inquire by emailing HAI's Director of Safety, J.
Heffernan at j.heffernan@rotor.com or call HAI at 703-683-4646.
