June 11, 2009, Stony Creek, Ont. – Catalyst Aviation has taken delivery of the first of five planned 355FX2R helicopters from Heli-Lynx Helicopters.

The custom, VIP-configured 355FX2R — which was displayed at Heli-Expo
2009 in February — was delivered with zero-time Rolls-Royce C20R
engines. It is the very first 355 TwinStar helicopter to feature a
glass cockpit with dual eight-inch integrated cockpit display systems
from Sagem. Vector Aerospace of Richmond, B.C. collaborated with
Heli-Lynx on the supplemental type certificate for the cockpit, which
is approved for use in the United States.

Catalyst chief operating officer Maria Hoban and CEO Denise Mozitis took delivery of the ultra-modern 355FX2R at the Heli-Lynx completion center in early May and have been operating it for VIP and corporate transfer in the Manhattan, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Atlantic City corridor. “With Heli-Lynx’s attention to details and high level of quality, we’re very pleased with the aircraft’s performance and reliability, and clients are thrilled with the comfort of the cabin layout in this twin-engine FX,” Hoban said. “Also, the Sagem glass cockpit greatly reduces pilot workload in the high-traffic areas of Manhattan.”

Although Catalyst Aviation is a new company, its owners have 40 years of combined experience in the commercial helicopter industry. Catalyst’s acquisition of an ultra-VIP 355FX2R for a private company in the Philadelphia area furnished the opportunity to operate and manage the aircraft. After seven months of experience with the helicopter’s low operating costs and impressive power and efficiency, Catalyst chose the 355FX2R as the signature helicopter with which to launch its new Part 135 operating division. The company is already preparing for the arrival of its next 355FX2R, Hoban said.
