May 20, 2014  By Carey Fredericks

May 20, 2014, Istanbul, Turkey - AgustaWestland has announced Kaan Air has added an AW139 intermediate twin-engine helicopter and an AW189 super medium twin-engine helicopter to its fleet.

Both helicopters will be fitted out with VIP passenger transport interiors and will be operated in Turkey. The contract expands the success of the AW139 in Turkey and marks the entrance of the AW189 into the Turkish helicopter market. This is the first VIP-configured AW189 ordered in Europe where the type has already enjoyed a considerable success in the offshore and SAR markets.

With this latest achievement, Kaan Air further expands its presence in the Turkish commercial helicopter market where the company has already sold more than 30 helicopters from its entire range of commercial products including the AW119, AW109 Power, Grand/GrandNew, AW169 and the AW139 particularly for VIP/corporate transport.

The bestselling helicopter in its category with a 56% share of the global market, the AW139 has become the benchmark platform for a wide range of operations across the globe. Some 200 customers from more than 60 countries have ordered almost 760 AW139 helicopters.

The AW189 was designed in response to the growing market demand for a versatile, affordable, multi-role super medium twin-engine helicopter. With its combination of speed, low vibration and low noise it delivers exceptional passenger comfort. The AW189’s large 11.2m3 cabin with four large cabin windows on each side provide a very spacious interior and excellent panoramic views for all passengers. A further 2.4m3 of baggage space is provided behind the main cabin. Additionally the use of the aircraft’s auxiliary power unit whilst on the ground to provide air conditioning ensures passengers remain comfortable whatever the outside temperature, without the need to engage the rotors.
