Key partners join forces to promote B.C. air cadets
May 8, 2015 By Carey Fredericks
May 8, 2015, Kelowna, B.C. - A Letter of Affiliation between the Air Cadet League of Canada, British Columbia Provincial Committee (BCPC), and British Columbia Aviation Council (BCAC) was signed by representatives of the organizations on April 30. The signing ceremony took place in the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort at 1 pm.
This Letter of Affiliation is the result of months of negotiations and will establish an ongoing partnership to provide an exposure to the many opportunities and careers available within BC's aviation industry that are available through the Air Cadet High School Work Experience Program.
There are more than 3,800 air cadets in B.C. between the ages of 12-19 with a keen interest in aviation, however not all will become pilots. This cross section of youth is of tremendous interest to the aviation industry as a source of enthusiastic and skilled employees who may not be fully aware of the broad range of training and careers available in aerospace in British Columbia.
The Letter of Affiliation describes how the Air Cadet League of Canada, British Columbia Provincial Committee (BCPC), and the British Columbia Aviation Council will work in partnership to provide work experience sponsorships for cadet and students in aerospace facilities that will introduce, orient and inform them about training and career opportunities in the B.C. aerospace industry. These work experience opportunities will be offered to cadet/students under the auspices of the B.C. Ministry of Education High School Graduation Transition Program.
