Manitoba secures air ambulance agreement
March 24, 2011 By The Canadian Press
March 24, 2011, Winnipeg - The Manitoba government says an ambulance-helicopter promised in last fall's throne speech will be in place in time for the flood season.
Premier Greg Selinger says the province has reached a leasing agreement with an Alberta-based emergency response company called Stars.
Selinger says the aim is to make sure emergency workers can reach anyone who gets isolated by flooding.
Last November, the NDP government promised a permanent ambulance-helicopter that could serve in any emergency.
Selinger says the leasing deal with Stars is temporary.

The province may end up with a different agreement for a permanent chopper.
