Mazza’s testimony contradicts health minister’s perspective

July 19, 2012  By The Canadian Press

July 19, 2012, Toronto - The New Democrats say they want the health minister to come back for questioning by a legislative committee that's probing Ornge.

They say ex-CEO Chris Mazza's testimony flies in the face of Deb
Matthews's claim that she took action at Ornge, which is also under a
criminal probe.

Mazza said Wednesday that the ministry was fully briefed and supported
Ornge's efforts to build a web of for-profit companies that made
questionable business decisions.

That contradicts the government's claims that the troubled air ambulance service had gone rogue.

NDP critic France Gelinas says it's more evidence that the minister's
office had numerous opportunities to rein in Ornge, but failed to act.

She says Matthews must explain why she never took briefings from Ornge
and how she can claim she didn't know what was going on there.
