March 2, 2011 – Datatoys Digital Video Systems announces the release of the Ultimate Digital Video Platform (UDVP) for airborne applications. The UDVP is one of the most capable digital video recorders (DVR) on the planet with specific features for airborne law enforcement, flight training, flight testing, flight tours, airborne fire fighting and utility applications. The UDVP is a compact and light weight dual-channel video recording system, with an ability to synchronize multiple video streams and data, in up to 1080p HD.

The UDVP allows for recording of existing bullet cameras, gimbal camera systems, and thermal cameras, through a variety of inputs including, Composite (NTSC/PAL), S-Video, HDMI, and HD-SDI. Storing video is easy with the ability to place footage on a variety of different media-types including Internal, USB and/or SDHC. Backup copies of video and data can be recorded in real time to multiple low cost USB flash drives or SDHC cards, enabling flight tours operators to provide a digital copy of the flight to customers instantly. Video files can play back using standard media players on both Windows and Mac operating systems.

In addition, the UDVP has built-in SiRFStarIII WAAS enabled GPS and optional external GPS input, which can record multiple data points and sync data with onboard video. GPS data is recorded as a flight path along with accelerometer data for later flight analysis. Geospatial information can also be overlaid on top of the video in the form of text or advanced graphics.

Advanced features such as; playback while recording, streaming, and network connectivity, are standard on the UDVP. With an optional built in LCD users can quickly and effectively playback events on the unit or to an external monitor. A low latency video output allows for near real time viewing of cameras and DVR status on external monitors. The UDVP network interface adds the ability control the DVR remotely over the network via WiFi or Ethernet.

At a size of only 2.95” x 4.9” x 1.48” (w x l x h) and a weight just over 9oz the UDVP is one of the smallest and lightest Airborne DVR’s available. An advanced internal power system accepts an input range of 4.5V to 36VDC, while maintaining the ultra low power consumption, allowing the UDVP to be added to even the most constrained power systems.

Prices range from $1500 to $3900 USD and systems are shipping immediately.
