Demonstration of new aircraft marks first official run of Evergreen’s unmanned system

Nov. 1, 2007, McMinnville, OR — Evergreen Unmanned Systems (EUS) will
debut its new unmanned aircraft system (UAS) on Thursday, Nov. 1, in
Arlington, Ore., at the Arlington Municipal Airport. The demonstration
will include a launch and recovery of the aircraft and a viewing of the
high definition, streaming imagery from it, along with additional
information on the new mobile system.  The event marks the first
official flight of the Evergreen UAS system.

A UAS is an aircraft with no pilot onboard that flies autonomously
from pre-programmed data.  The Evergreen system can also be
re-programmed in-flight from the two-man ground control to closely view
areas of higher interest. Evergreen’s InsightÔ UAS is manufactured by
Insitu, Inc. of Bingen, Wash. Insitu is a pioneer of small, long
endurance, unmanned aircraft. The aircraft is especially effective in
mapping forest fire areas and establishing the path of the fire.
Capabilities include speeds of 48 – 75 knots, with a ceiling of 19,500
feet. Its maximum endurance exceeds 20 hours. Evergreen’s system is
highly flexible to meet customer’s requirements.

“Evergreen is proud to partner with Insitu to bring the unmanned
systems to the commercial market worldwide,” says Chris Rushing,
Manager of Projects for EUS.

Evergreen Helicopters

EUS, a division of Evergreen Helicopters, Inc, of McMinnville, Ore.,
provides fire mapping, search & rescue, remote location monitoring
and law enforcement services with its UAS’s. The systems are capable of
performing in remote areas with dangerous environmental conditions. In
this manner they provide a substantial increase in safety and economy
over manned aircraft tasked with the same jobs. The UAS’s are also
agile and can be moved with little logistical support. EUS aircraft can
be launched and recovered from small austere locations and maritime
vessels because no runway is required.
