Salute to Excellence call for nominations booklets in the mail

July 17, 2008, Alexandria, VA. – The 2009 “Salute to Excellence” Call for Nominations booklets have been mailed — look for them and submit your nominations today.  All award winners will be recognized at the “Salute to Excellence” Awards Banquet at HELI-EXPO 2009.


July 17, 2008, Alexandria, VA. – The 2009 “Salute to Excellence” Call for Nominations booklets have been mailed — look for them and submit your nominations today.  All award winners will be recognized at the “Salute to Excellence” Awards Banquet at HELI-EXPO 2009. The awards banquet will be held Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.  The evening will include a served dinner and video tribute to all award winners. Awards include: Aviation Maintenance Technician Award, Aviation Repair Specialist Award, Igor I. Sikorsky Award for Humanitarian Service, Joe Mashman Safety Award, Outstanding Certified Flight Instructor Award, AgustaWestland Community Service Award, Eurocopter Golden Hour Award, Excellence in Communications Award, Helicopter Maintenance Award, MD Helicopter Law Enforcement Award, Lawrence D. Bell Memorial Award, Robert E. Trimble Memorial Award, and Pilot of the Year Award.

You can mail (Helicopter Association International, 1635 Prince Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314), email (rotor@rotor.com ), or fax (703-683-4745) your nominations to HAI.  The booklet is also available to download or fill out on HAI’s Web site at www.rotor.com .  Just click ‘Membership’ then ‘Salute to Excellence.’  To be considered, all nominations must be received by close of business on Friday, October 3, 2008.  A “Salute to Excellence” Nomination Committee made up of helicopter professionals will then review each nomination carefully and decide who is most deserving in each of the award categories.

Remember: HAI requires all nominees to acknowledge in writing that they are aware of their nomination, wish to be nominated, and if selected, they would be willing to share biographical information and photos with HAI, and agree to accept the award in person at the “Salute to Excellence” Awards Banquet.  If the recipient is unable to attend the banquet, they must designate a person to accept the award on their behalf.  An Acknowledgement Form will be available in the Call for Nominations booklet and online.  For more information on the “Salute to Excellence” awards, please contact HAI’s Communications Department at 703-683-4646, or by email, rotor@rotor.com .  For more information on HELI-EXPO 2009, please visit www.heliexpo.com .
