AgustaWestland showcasing AW169 at HAC
Nov. 8, 2013, Vancouver - AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, will feature the AW169 EMS-configured mockup and the GrandNew Virtual Interactive Procedure Trainer (VIPT) within its booth (#810) at the annual Helicopters Association of Canada Convention, taking place November 8 through 10 in Vancouver.
Attendees from the Canadian helicopter industry are invited to the booth to test the VIPT featuring a full cockpit replica of the GrandNew, a light twin-engine multi-role solution, and will allow users to fly procedures and learn avionics components.
The AW169 mockup will give attendees a preview of the interior of the newest generation twin-engine helicopter in its class. The aircraft has been to meet the growing market demand for a versatile and multi-role 4-tonne class rotorcraft and incorporates next-generation technologies into the rotor system, engines, avionics, transmission, and electric power generation and distribution systems.
Designed with the patient in mind, the EMS-configured AW169 can accommodate one or two stretchers, either longitudinally or transversally. The cabin can also accommodate wheeled stretchers and can be configured with a full suite of advanced life support equipment, as well as neonatal incubators and dedicated space for a neonatal emergency care provider.
Certification of the AW169 is anticipated in 2014 and deliveries beginning shortly thereafter. Philadelphia, Vergiate and Yeovil plants will play a critical role for production activities. Also expected in 2014 is the increase and expansion of training capabilities at the AgustaWestland Philadelphia Training Academy on glass cockpit helicopters and IFR procedures in order to improve flight safety and allow for full utilization of the newest technologies.
