Blue Sky Network debuts HawkEye Portable Tracker Plus

March 5, 2013, La Jolla, Ca. - Blue Sky Network today extends its feature-rich product line of fleet management solutions with the new palm-sized HawkEye Portable Tracker (PT) Plus.

Leveraging core technology from the leading HawkEye 5300, HawkEye PT Plus provides dual-mode connectivity and harnesses the power of the Iridium Satellite network and GSM tracking; this ensures the safety and constant communication of fleets dispersed in remote locations while providing cost-efficient data service. When used in combination with the New Sky Router, the HawkEye PT Plus offers portable tracking and fleet management of any asset type – from aviation, land and marine – in real-time from anywhere in the world with pole-to-pole coverage.

“With these improved features, the new HawkEye PT Plus is moving into the new age of portable satellite technology,” said Blue Sky Network CEO and founder, Jon Gilbert. “Blue Sky Network is creating a more adaptable platform for fleets that includes high-to-low-value asset types. We cover the gamut from fixed installation aviation to portable applications and are now a one-stop shop for dual-mode fleet tracking of any asset class in the world.”

The HawkEye PT Plus utilizes GPS tracking to locate the exact position of fleets and two-way SMS and free form messaging to allow users to remain in constant contact with command centers. Device control is now made easy with the integration of a new touchscreen interface. With the New SkyRouter solution, assets using the HawkEye PT Plus can be tracked and managed via multiple maps per screen utilizing both road and aerial views. The trip playback feature also makes route planning more efficient and allows the tracking data to be exported and used in Google Earth for 3D flight analyses.

As the tracker is versatile, it can easily service multiple fleet industries. With device side geo-fencing, users can create a geo-fence for each asset and notifications can be sent to the New SkyRouter every time an asset leaves or enters a specific geo-fence. Moreover, it is ultra-compact with a weight of just 7.8 ounces which makes it easy to move from asset to asset or can be used as a personal tracking device for fleet personnel in remote areas. The HawkEye PT Plus can be configured via a USB or Bluetooth interface.

In case of emergency, a guarded quick position button on the tracker allows users to easily notify fleet managers. With one-touch notifications, users can send waypoints and check-ins to command centers and track the completion of their tasks. Automatic position reports allow the HawkEye PT Plus to “wake up” and send position reports periodically. On a single battery life, the tracker can send up to 1,600 reports.

The HawkEye PT Plus will be available for purchase in April 2013.
