SkyTrac hosts first safety seminar in Frankfurt

Feb. 4, 2014, Kelowna, B.C. – SkyTrac Systems hosted their first seminar
in Frankfurt in late January. The two day seminar, titled “Harnessing
the Power of Your Satellite Data to Enhance Safety, Efficiency and
Compliance” was focused primarily on Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and
stimulated in-depth discussion among dozens of industry leaders. The event was attended by over 60 professionals from all over the globe representing a wide variety of aviation backgrounds.

Iridium Communications’ Dan Mercer, the keynote speaker, opened the seminar with an inspiring presentation on the capabilities of Iridium NEXT and how it will revolutionize aircraft communications. The first day also included an Emergency Medical Services case study by Juergen Zoller of DRF Luftrettung who discussed his organization’s approach to fleet coordination and connection to dispatch centers. Joel Mouterde of Airbus Helicopters presented Health Usage Monitoring Systems and FDM from an OEM perspective. The second day included guest speakers Thomas Latacz of EuroAvionics, who discussed the functions and features of their EuroNav system in combination with SkyTrac’s systems, and Urs Moser of RUAG whose presentation focused on the safety benefits of FDM systems applied to helicopter operations, as well as the human aspects of an FDM program.

SkyTrac speakers also presented an industry overview, technology review, technology roadmap and software system management program.
