Tanis Preheat system gets TC approval

October 1, 2014  By Carey Fredericks

Oct. 1, 2014, Blaine, Minn. - Tanis Aircraft Products has received supplemental type certificates (STCs) from Transport Canada for both the four- and six-cylinder Continental, Lycoming and Franklin engines. The STC will be entered in the Canadian index of STCs that have been familiarized or accepted by Transport Canada for installation on Canadian type certified/accepted aeronautical products.

The preheat system produced by Tanis Aircraft Products will add to operational efficiency, utility, safety of flight and reduce the problems of engine wear associated with cold starts.

Tanis Aircraft Products manufactures the only preheat system that applies heat directly to all of the cylinder heads, oil sump and crankcase. The Tanis preheat system is powered by ground power and is not used in flight. Mounted on the aircraft, it weighs less than 2 pounds (0.91 kg). The installation kit comes complete with required cabling, circuit protection, and shore power plug.
