Destination Canada, a Crown corporation wholly owned by the Government of Canada to promote tourism in the country, added four new members to its Canadian Signature Experiences collection. This new group includes 1000 Islands Helicopter Tours based in Tamworth, Ont., and operated by Kouri’s Kopters.
More specifically, Destination Canada deploys data-driven marketing strategies to stimulate international demand and tourism export revenue for Canada in 10 countries: Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, the UK and the United States.
The Canadian Signature Experiences are described by the Crown corporation as a collection of more than 200 extraordinary and authentically Canadian travel experiences from coast to coast. “The Canadian Signature Experiences are a fantastic way to inspire travellers to experience more of Canada,” said Mélanie Joly, Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie. “I'd like to welcome the four new experiences to the Canadian Signature Experiences. They are once-in-a- lifetime experiences that speak to the diversity and uniqueness of our country.”
The 1000 Islands Helicopter Tours program leverages the aircraft, aircrews and operations management of Kouri’s Kopters from its heliport based in Gananoque, Ont. The tour focuses on the island-dotted St. Lawrence River, which includes two early 20th century castles, two 35-metre shipwrecks, lighthouses and riverside mansions. During the tour, Kouri’s Kopters pilots describe Eastern Ontario’s historic 1000 Islands region and point out yachts and Great Lakes freighters.
The other three new Destination Canada experiences, all located in BC, include: Desolation Sound 5-day Cruise operated by Pacific Coastal Cruises; Hot Springs Cove Excursion operated by West Coast Aquatic Safaris; and Sea to Sky Driving Experience operated by Scenic Rush – driving Lamborghinis and Ferraris.
