LORD introduces new warranty for Bell 412 operators

August 24, 2015  By LORD Corporation

LORD Corporation has introduced a new five-year/2,500-hour service life warranty for Bell Helicopter Model 412 hub elastomeric components. The warranty demonstrates LORD Corporation’s confidence in service life improvements realized through use of its improved SPE IIA elastomer.

Comparative endurance tests confirm that the Bell 412 Spindle and Pivot Bearings manufactured with SPE IIA will have significant increases in life and durability. The new extended warranty on these parts is aligned with Bell’s mandatory hub inspection that occurs at 2,500-hour intervals.

The warranty covers LORD parts manufactured after March 1, 2014 (the incorporation date of SPE IIA) and includes: the damper yoke set (412-010-145-105 & 412-310-146-103), spindle and damper bearing assembly (412-010-190-103 & -105) and pivot bearing (412-010-106-101). Details regarding the warranty requirements can be found on LORD Corporation’s website.

LORD launched an extended warranty earlier this year which covered all Bell 407 main rotor hub elastomeric components for 3 years/2,500 hours. Parts covered by the warranty include: the lead lag bearing (407-310-102-101 & -103), shear bearing (407-310-101-101 & -105) and damper (407-310-100-105 & -107).

“The LORD warranty enhancement is the latest example of our top-ranked customer support network providing incredible value to the marketplace,” said Van Wilson, program director, Bell Helicopter. “Customers who own and operate the 407 can continue to rely on the aircraft knowing it is supported with LORD Corporation’s extended warranty coverage, which is more effectively and efficiently aligned with regular maintenance requirements.”

“This is only the beginning. LORD is committed to helping operators reduce their direct maintenance costs (DMC), avoid unscheduled maintenance and make sure premature removal of good parts is a thing of the past,” said Rodolphe Leroy, manager, business development, LORD. “We are listening and coming up with the right solutions for helicopter operators.”
