Tinder-dry conditions spell early start to Alberta fire season

After an already mild winter with little precipitation, the weather is giving Alberta’s wildfire season a big head start.

“I’ve been fighting fires here in Slave Lake for 25 years and I’ve never seen them this dry at this time of the year,” said Jamie Coutts, regional chief of Lesser Slave Lake Fire Services. “We’re getting middle-of-May conditions in the middle of April. That’s a little nerve-racking.” | READ MORE
