Orange County Fire Authority selects night flight training

May 16, 2012  By Carey Fredericks

May 16, 2012, Irvine, Ca. - Leading night vision imaging system (NVIS) solution provider Night Flight Concepts has announced that the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) has contracted to use NVIO Night Vision Goggle (NVG) Computer-Based Training (CBT) for Initial and Recurrent training of flight crews to ensure readiness in night operations.

The use of night vision goggles has really improved safety at night,” explains OCFA’s captain Dave Lopez. “As a result, keeping NVG equipment and personnel operation-ready is a real priority. “After reviewing the many products available for NVG training, it is our intention to run all of our flight crew members though the NVIO NVG course,” stated Lopez. “NVIO’s ease-of- access, as well as its powerful state of the art interactive courseware were the main reasons for selecting Night Flight Concepts as our NVG solution provider.”

Responsible for fire protection and emergency medical services to unincorporated areas of Orange County, California and cities in the region, the OCFA relies on night vision goggles to perform critical operations at night. NVGs provide the enhanced situational awareness to enable OCFA to perform night water drops and night rescues with greater precision and less risk to those in the air and on the ground.
