What type of lifestyle does a pilot have?

I'm
in the midst of saving for my licence, planning to start withinthe next
6 months, I'm just curious, I understand the limitation a low-timer has
and the first few years are always difficult. What type of lifestyle
does a pilot have? Ie.: Shifts, family life and what not?
