Feb. 27, 2008 - Sagem Avionics, Inc. has announced that it will team with Honeywell on a helicopter retrofit upgrade program, offering operators the SAGEM Integrated Cockpit Display System (ICDS) and Honeywell’s communication, navigation, safety and enhanced surveillance systems.

The systems will offer helicopter operators, many of whom operate under extreme flying conditions
such as emergency medical rescue in remote terrain, with a comprehensive integrated cockpit with
enhanced surveillance capabilities.

Sagem Avionics, Inc., which offers a variety of new airframe and retrofit solutions for helicopters, will
use its Integrated Cockpit Display Systems (ICDS) displays in combination with Honeywell’s
strengths in communications, navigation, enhanced surveillance products, and helicopter safety.
The synergistic energy of this team approach promises customers highly reliable avionics in an
affordable replacement package while updating the aircraft cockpit with Honeywell’s exciting
product line including communications avionics like the Bendix/King’s new line of avionics;
including the KSN 770 MFD/navigator/navcomm.
The Sagem Avionics Inc. ICDS open architecture is compatible with installation of a variety of
aircraft components made by Honeywell and Sagem Avionics enthusiastically embraces features of
the KSN 770 for integration with the Sagem Avionics displays. The Sagem ICDS, Automated Flight
Control Systems (AFCS), and combination display/autopilot installations have received
Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) on a number of aircraft including Cessna 180, Bell 205, 206,
212, 407 as well as the Eurocopter EC 120, AS 350 and the Robinson R-44. Final STC efforts are
underway in Sagem’s own Gulfstream II and in the Rockwell, Commander 690.
The Sagem Integrated Cockpit Display System (ICDS) includes Primary Flight Displays, Multi-
Function Displays with Engine Monitoring System (EMS) functions, moving maps, Terrain
Obstruction Proximity System (TOPS) and EICAS (Engine Instrument Caution Advisory System)
Display. Sagem Avionics ICDS can be installed in portrait and/or landscape exclusively or in
combinations and are available in 6, 8, or 10 inch display sizes. Additionally, Sagem Avionics
displays are capable of displaying video images enabling the viewing of moving maps, turret and
fixed camera images, Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) and other useful data. Finally, Sagem
Avionics offers several aircraft Flight Observation Quality Assurance (FOQA) and Maintenance
Observation Quality Assurance (MOQA) systems providing equipment for commercial operations
and individual owners alike.
Honeywell's KSN 770 combines an IFR GPS (WAAS-LPV) navigator, comprehensive moving map,
integrated with TAWS, Weather, a 16-watt digital VHF Command and VHF nav/ILS. The KSN 770
features a large, high-resolution display will enhance the crew situational awareness and enable
graphical flight planning with cursor control. Options will include Traffic (TCAS), Terrain (TAWS-B)
and Weather (either on board or XM Data Link).
In the near future, a product roadmap may enable, charts, maps, and incorporate new technology
such as Honeywell’s Synthetic Vision System into the Sagem Avionics ICDS. Honeywell and
Sagem Avionics, Inc. are also considering applications that may include advanced mapping
capabilities of Honeywell’s Skyforce products; the Observer and the Sentinel. These products are
designed for special use such in Airborne Law Enforcement, EMS, Off-Shore, and other specialized
missions. Finally, upgrade options may also include TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System),
TAWS-B (Traffic Avoidance Warning System-B), and a weather data system on board or through
an XM Data Link.
