Two CH-149 Cormorants have trouble in flight

Dec. 18, 2014 – Two search and rescue helicopters have declared emergencies while in the air recently.

This week, the crew on a flight from Gander had to declare an emergency when one of its engines shut down.

According to a preliminary Transport Canada report, the Cormorant
chopper experienced a problem while in the air on Tuesday night.

The aircraft landed without incident less than 15 minutes later. Two
other aircraft were delayed by about five minutes as a result of the
