April 24, 2008, Mitabel, Que. – On its fifth anniversary of operations in Canada, Turbomeca Canada is inaugurating a 16,000 square feet extension to satisfy increasing demand from operators of Turbomeca turboshaft engines, especially in Canada and North America.

The Mirabel site has enjoyed constant growth over its first five years. Since inaugurating the facilities with a team of 18 staff in 2003, the workforce has spiraled to 123 employees. In five years, Turbomeca Canada has repaired more than 700 engines and 1,000 fuel flow control units.

The Turbomeca Canada team chiefly specializes in repair and overhaul operations on Arriel 1 and Arriel 2 engines and accessories for its customers in North America. The TurboSupport Center is dedicated to supporting Arriel and Arrius engines.
The new extension will see Turbomeca Canada’s total surface area expand to almost 59,200 square feet. The additional 16,000 square feet accommodate a new receiving and shipping bay, new premises for the accessories workshop, and an additional accessories test bench. This extension allows Turbomeca Canada to be equipped with a supplementary space for the worldwide tooling management and to support more efficiency the operators, as well as TurboSupport Centers and repair centers.

This extension is also an opportunity for Turbomeca to revitalize its commitment to ongoing progress via the Lean approach. Several Lean tools and concepts were applied to maximize this opportunity to review layout and boost the efficiency of the organization.
