Aero design gets approval for new cargo baskets
September 5, 2012 By Carey Fredericks
Sept. 5, 2012, Calgary - Aero Design Ltd. has received United States Federal Aviation Administration certification for two new large cargo baskets – for the Eurocopter AS350 and AS355 series, and the Bell 206L series and 407 aircraft.
The cargo basket for the Eurocopter aircraft provides 21.7 cubic feet (0.61 cubic meters) of cargo capacity. With a load capacity of 300 pounds (136 kilograms), it has the highest structural efficiency on the market.
The new cargo baskets for Bell are available in two configurations: The first is a wider and deeper version of Aero Design’s original quick release cargo basket, offering 17.5 cubic feet (0.5 meters) of cargo capacity, and an allowable load of 300 pounds (136 kilograms). The second stretches the configuration to 8 feet (2.4 meters), providing a cargo load of 300 pounds (136 kilograms).
The company said the cargo baskets have a very simple attachment system that allows the pilot to mount and remove the basket from its supports in seconds. The attachment mechanism is totally self-contained, so there are no little pins or clips to lose or drop.
