Air Method founder receives top award

Jan. 24, 2013, Denver, Co. - Air Methods Corporation announced that company founder Roy Morgan was recently honored with the Living Legends Vertical Flight Hall of Fame Award presented by Bell Helicopter at the 10th annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards in Beverly Hills.


The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the rotorcraft industry.

Morgan is one of the founders of Air Methods and since the Company's inception in 1980 has served in various roles including president, chief executive officer and director until his semi-retirement in 1991. Morgan has logged more than 19,000 flight hours in airplanes, helicopters and other aircraft. Dedicated to the aviation field for more than 55 years, Morgan continues to share his passion and expertise as a consultant and helping with the development of medical flight programs around the world.

Aaron Todd, the company's chief executive officer, stated, "On behalf of Air Methods we extend our congratulations to Roy for being honored with such a prestigious aviation award. From day one Roy's vision for Air Methods was to be the leader in aviation safety and patient care, with the best of equipment and most highly trained staff. His high standards from the start have helped shape the Company we are today and will continue to guide us into the future."

John Garrison, president and CEO of Bell Helicopter, presented Morgan with the Living Legends Vertical Flight Hall of Fame Award. John Travolta, the "Official Ambassador of Aviation" and host of the Living Legends of Aviation Awards, presented Morgan with a gift of a Breitling watch. The Living Legends of Aviation Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Living Legends include Buzz Aldrin, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman, Bob Hoover, Kurt Russell and Sully Sullenberger.
