Helicopter crash northwest of Montreal kills two people

Aug. 5, 2009, Montreal, Que. – A helicopter crash about 240 kilometres northwest of Montreal has killed two people.

There are reports one of the victims may be a CTV cameraman.

The other person is believed to be a veteran pilot in his 60s.

The crash occurred just off Highway 117 in Mont-Laurier, where a tornado struck on Tuesday.

One witness told all-news channel RDI the chopper was burning after it crashed and that there was nothing to do save the occupants.

It is believed the pilot was flying the cameraman to show him the tornado wreckage.

Municipal and police officials are expected to hold a news conference to discuss the crash.
