Kellstrom completes TAVCO acquisition

July 11, 2019  By Helicopters Staff

Kellstrom Defense Aerospace has completed the acquisition of TAVCO Inc. based in Chatsworth, Californi, an OEM manufacturer of specialty pneumatics devices for legacy helicopter and military aircraft platforms, including the F15, F16, C-130 P-3, SH-60 – in addition to other aviation platforms.

TAVCO was founded in 1959 as a designer and manufacturer of proprietary pneumatic controls and pressure vessels for the aerospace and defense market. The TAVCO product line, engineering design data, and manufacturing capabilities will become part of the current Kellstrom Defense Aerospace (KDA) Engineered Products operating segment. KDA plans to retain TAVCO brand identity in the market.

Over its more than 60-year history, KDA explains TAVCO has developed a range of proprietary designs for the manufacture of complex, high-pressure pneumatic controls and pressure vessels, as well as capabilities for specialty welding, CNC machining and the integration of aerospace and defense components.

There are thousands of TAVCO pneumatics systems installed worldwide, according to the company, which also points to an ongoing demand for new OEM production and aftermarket spares/services for the global operator community.

“The addition of TAVCO to our group of companies adds a strong installed base of proprietary equipment aligned with our focus on providing service and sustainment for global military aircraft operators,” said Chris Celtruda, CEO, KDA. “We expect to invest in the current TAVCO Chatsworth, California, location to improve capability and ensure that both OEM and aftermarket customers continue to receive the highest level of quality and customer service.”
