Man shot by police at Toronto’s Pearson Airport, police say no known threat to public
April 24, 2025 By The Canadian Press

A man was shot by police at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport Thursday morning, officials said, describing it as an isolated incident with no further threat to public safety.
Peel regional police say an adult male had been shot in a “police-involved shooting” at the airport’s Terminal 1.
Officials did not immediately say whether the man survived the shooting.
The Special Investigations Unit, the province’s police watchdog, confirmed that police shot the person.
Paramedics say they received a request to attend the airport at 6:56 a.m. and no one was transported to hospital, but they would not confirm whether anyone had died.
The airport says due to the investigation outside its departures level, it is rerouting passengers to enter and exit Terminal 1 through the arrivals area.
Videos posted to social media showed a heavy police presence outside the terminal with cars backed up leading to the departures level.
Ontario Provincial Police said Highway 409 to the departures level was closed.
