AMETEK newest supplier for Bell’s Relentless 525 program

Oct. 22, 2013, Wilmington, Ma. - The Sensors & Fluid Management Systems (SFMS) business unit of AMETEK Aerospace & Defense, has been selected by Bell Helicopter, a subsidiary of Textron, Inc., to supply the fuel quantity gauging system (FQGS) and remote fuel display panel for the new Bell 525 Relentless super medium helicopter.
The AMETEK FQGS consists of multiple custom-designed, active capacitance type fuel probes, which are configured to mount in different orientations within the fuel tank; an advanced fuel quantity signal conditioner; and a customized remote fuel display panel. The system is able to display fuel quantity in both pounds and kilograms.

AMETEK undertakes a full tank study, a critical step in mapping the dynamics of fuel movement and transfer, prior to designing the system. The final design we provided Bell represents the most modern and advanced helicopter fuel gauging systems available.

AMETEK has supplied fuel systems and components for nearly every type of aircraft, including helicopters, military and commercial fixed-wing aircraft, UAVs and spacecraft. In addition to fuel gauging systems, AMETEK SFMS provides instruments for measuring fuel flow rates, fuel density, fuel gauging, and fuel temperature as well as the cockpit displays for these instruments.
