Helijet names McCormick new director of flight ops

Daniel Sitnam, president and CEO for Richmond based Helijet International Inc. has announced the appointment of Brendan McCormick as director of flight operations, effective February 15, 2017.


Brendan has served as Helijet’s chief pilot, rotary wing operations, for the past five and half years and will now oversee all facets of flight and operating standards for both fixed- and rotary-wing operations at Helijet.

Brendan joined Helijet in May of 2000 as part of the VFR Charter Department and since then has been involved in all aspects of flying operations at the company. Brendan was appointed chief pilot, rotary-wing in June 2011. His flying experience includes mining, exploration, seismic, forest fire suppression, and police-rescue operations. Previously, Brendan served in the Calgary Police Air Services Unit as chief pilot for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft for five years. He also worked internationally in off-shore oil operations and as a flight Instructor.

Brendan brings a deep knowledge base to Helijet’s flight operating areas. He has a thorough understanding of the regulatory, safety and operating disciplines necessary to maintain and propel the company’s high standards of service delivery. In addition to flight operations management, Brendan will take a leadership role in guiding Helijet’s initiative to establish a formalized Safety Management System (SMS) to support flight operations.
