Oshawa Municipal Airport will gain more than $1 million in funding

Sept. 10, 2009 – The honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, made the announcement yesterday at the Oshawa Municipal Airport.


Sept. 10, 2009 – The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), made the announcement on yesterday at the Oshawa Municipal Airport. Oshawa MP Colin Carrie, Oshawa Mayor John Gray and Oshawa Councillors were also on hand for the announcement.

Through the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF), the Government of Canada will invest in four local projects totaling over $3.5 million. One of the four announced projects is the Oshawa Municipal Airport Improvements project that involves:
• refurbishment of runway 04/22
• installation of an automated weather system
• taxiway lights and signage
• ramp repairs
• emergency generator control panel
• construction of a new west lot service road
• rehabilitation of the east lot service road

The estimated cost of the Oshawa Municipal Airport Improvements project is $2.14 million. Under the Community Adjustment Fund, the federal government will contribute up to $1.07 million with the balance funded by the City of Oshawa.
