Sentient Vision Systems appointed its existing Chief Technology Officer Mark Palmer as Chief Executive Officer following a decision by the company’s founder, Dr. Paul Boxer, to hand over the reins after 27 years at the helm.
“Through his many years working in large defence multi-national corporations, Thales and BAE Systems, Mark has developed the skills and experience to operate effectively at the highest levels with defence industry,” said Boxer. “His expertise and in-depth knowledge of our business makes him well-suited to lead Sentient through its next phase of growth.”
Sentient specializes in passive, optical detection using wide area motion imagery to detect and identify small objects, on land, in the air and at sea. With more than 20 years of development in moving target indication, AI computer vision and machine learning, Sentient has deployed thousands of systems worldwide in the field of Intelligence, Surveillance, Search and Rescue. Its customers include the Australian Defence Force, Australian Maritime Safety Authority, United States Special Operations Command, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, United Kingdom Royal Navy, European Maritime Safety Agency, Netherlands Coastguard, as well as other militaries, police, border patrol, security agencies, and forces worldwide.
Sentient also announced that Program Director at Sentient, Callum McGregor, will take on the role of CTO in the business, noting his reputation as an innovator in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled sensor edge-processed solutions. He has held senior roles within the local and international defence aerospace industry including time with QinetiQ and Airbus Defence.
