AgustaWestland continues to increase footprint in China

March 6, 2015  By AgustaWestland

aw189_008_-_March 6, 2015, Orlando, Fla. - AgustaWestland and Sino-US Intercontinental of China announced today they’ve signed a contract for four helicopters comprising one AW119Kx single engine, one GrandNew light twin and two AW189 super-medium helicopters in executive/corporate transport configuration.

The aircraft are expected to be delivered within 2016.

Sino-US also plans to extend the range of AgustaWestland commercial platforms covered by the distributorship agreement to include latest generation products. This latest contract further expands the presence of AgustaWestland commercial helicopters in China, following the distributorship agreement announced with Sino-US in 2013, the opening of a regional business headquarters in Shanghai in early 2014 and the Kingwing AgustaWestland authorized service centre in November 2014. After the successful customer demonstration tour held in China in 2014 to demonstrate the modern solutions and capabilities offered by the AgustaWestland range of commercial helicopter models, a new demonstration tour will follow this year in several provinces such as Zhejang, Jiangsu, Hunan, Hubei, Chingging, Guizhon and Shanxi.

Sino-US Intercontinental acts as an official non-exclusive distributor for AgustaWestland civil helicopters in China, excluding Hong Kong and Macau, and has so far placed orders for 27 helicopters comprising AW119Kx, GrandNew, AW169 light intermediate, AW139 intermediate and AW189 super medium class helicopters. The partnership has further expanded the presence of the AW119, GrandNew and AW139 models and introduced the other two AgustaWestland Family types, the AW169 and AW189, into China.
