General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) selected subcontractor FSI Defense, a FlightSafety International company, to deliver services and support to the U.S. Army’s Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) at Fort Novosel, Alabama. The 12-year Flight School Training, Support, and Services (FSTSS) contract provides manufacturing, advanced simulation training, and instruction to military aviators and international partners for initial pilot qualification and advanced aircrew training.

FSI Defense explains its advanced flight simulators provide entry-level and experienced pilots with the necessary skills to overcome degraded visual conditions, system failures, and power loss.

“FSI Defense has provided USAACE with over 1.6 million hours of simulated mission time tailored to meet the FSTSS program requirements since 2005 at a 99.99 per cent availability rating with zero government deficiency reports,” said Tom Carlisle, FSI Defense vice president of government programs. “We look forward to building on these achievements, ensuring our military aircrews accomplish their mission.”

Through close collaboration with Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer, FSI Defense will produce a fleet of new high-fidelity AH-64 Apache Guardian full-flight simulators at their Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, production facility. FSI Defense will field the training devices in a new simulator facility near Fort Novosel in Daleville, Alabama.
