Airbus today announced it received a new order for the ACH160 from an undisclosed “experienced” Italian operator. The order comes shortly after Airbus on July 1 earned the Type Certificate for the H160 from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The ACH160 designation is for the premium Airbus Corporate Helicopters version of the H160 new-generation helicopter.

The new ACH160 ordered will be used on private and corporate flights mainly inside Italy, according to Airbus, which notes the ACH160 has now been ordered by customers in eight countries across North America, Latin America, Europe, China and South-East Asia. The first Canadian operator, also undisclosed, placed an ACH160 order late last year.

The Italian ACH160 client is described as an existing ACH twin-engined helicopter operator. It has specified a customized interior configured for that ACH160 to carry six passengers.

Airbus expects to begin making H160 helicopter deliveries to customers later this year.
